Our goal is to cooperate and comply with the myriad of regulations the University is governed by while finding means by which students, faculty and staff can carry out their tasks with minimal encumbrance. Whether it be monitoring and reconciling all financial transactions, handling the deposit of all funds received by students and staff, ensuring prompt vendor payments, developing and advertising requests for bids for a particular service, operating an on-line Bookstore, ensuring accurate payments to employees and student workers, or billing for students’ tuition and fees – the Business and Finance Departments operate under the policies and laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia to provide accurate and efficient service to the University community and the public.
The Acting Vice President for Administration & Finance, Richard R. Pearce, oversees the administration and management of the Business and Finance Departments.
The offices working together in the Business & Finance area are as follows:
- Business Services: University Bookstore, EagleOne Card System, UMW Copy Center, Postal Services, Dining Services, and Purchasing and Central Stores.
- Finance: Accounting, Accounts Payable, Cashier, Miscellaneous Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Student Accounts and Training, Evaluation and System Support.
