Rental Information – Dodd Auditorium

Thank you for looking into Dodd Auditorium as a possible venue to hold your event.  Dodd Auditorium is a student run facility reserved for University events during the Fall and Spring Semesters.  Hence, Dodd Auditorium is only available for rentals during a limited timeframe with a limited scope or size of the event.  

Currently, Dodd Auditorium is only available during the following times:

     Springbreak  -   usually the first week of March – check the academic calandar for exact dates

     Mid-May – July  – Dodd Auditorium is available one week after graduation until the end of July

Due to the limited size of staff that is available during the rental timeframe, we have to limit the size of events that can take place in Dodd Auditorium.  The following are types of events that can be easily supported at this time:

     Lectures/Panel Discussions

     One-person Shows/ Comedians/Magicians

     Concert Bands/Orchestras

     Business Meetings

     Movies

Rental Fees

The rental fees include the use of the dressing rooms (2), backstage, foyer, and In-house sound, lights and stage equipment.  It does not include labor costs.  The following is a breakdown of the rental fee:

      One day rental with 1 performance                                         $ 3150.00*

             Additional performances (same day)                                $   525.00*

       Rehearsal only (no performance)                                           $   210.00 per hour*

        Any event past midnight (including strike)                             $   315.00 per hour

* Special rate for Non-Profit Organizations upon request

Labor Costs

At least one Dodd Auditorium employee must be present at all times when client is in the space.  The number of Dodd Auditorium staff and hours will be determined by the Director of Dodd Auditorium.  Additional labor cost could include Police or Security Guards, housekeeping, or other umw trade employees.  Labor cost increase for weekend events.

     Dodd Auditorium Employees                                     $  10.50 – 63.00 per hour per person

     Police or Security Guards (3 hr. minimum)                $  31.50 – 47.75 per hour per person

     Housekeeping (2 hr. minimum)                                  $  10.50 – 21.00 per hour per person

     UMW Trade Employees                                              $  15.75 – 31.50 per hour per person

           (electricians, carpenters, mechanic, HVAC)
