Administrative Professional’s Seminar: April 28

Offered again this year, we hope that our administrative support professionals are able to take advantage of this professional development and networking opportunity- the one day Administrative Professional’s Seminar, sponsored by the Germanna Community College, Center for Workforce & Community Education on Thursday, April 28, 2016. Many of our administrative support professionals have attended for the last four years and continue to rave about the experience! While each department would be responsible for the registration fee for their employee(s), because of our ever increasing attendance, UMW will receive a $14 discount per person ($75 rather than $89). In order to receive the discount UMW must send 12 employees to the conference. Please return the registration form to Susan Brown at with your phone number in the email so that she may call you for payment. April 27: Administrative Support Professional Luncheon

We would like to recognize the exceptional work and dedication that our administrative support professionals give our departments daily. The University will provide a complimentary lunch for our administrative support professionals, on Wednesday, April 27, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Faculty Dining Room of the University Center. 457 and Hybrid participants:

Don’t forget to schedule an appointment for your 457 Deferred Compensation and 401 Cash Match Plan or Hybrid account. Our Representative is offering individual counseling sessions on March 14 in GW 106. VRS Hybrid retirement participants may also setup an individual counseling session for their Defined Contribution component or to discuss voluntary contributions.

IRS Announces Employer Affordable Care Act (ACA) Reporting Relief

The original deadline of January 31, 2016 has been extended to March 31, 2016 for providing the ACA- required 1095-C form that proves an employer has offered coverage to an eligible employee or that an employee is covered under the employer’s self-insured plan. As a result, DHRM will delay the mailing of these forms to health plan participants until March 1, 2016. For those waiting for the 1095-C, this new date may be later than one would prefer to file their individual 2015 income tax returns. According to the IRS, while the information on this form may assist in preparing a return, it is NOT required. Individual taxpayers will generally not be affected by this extension and should file their returns as they normally would.

Patient First and Anthem Members

Patient First and Anthem Members:

Patient First has notified existing patients with Anthem coverage that it will no longer accept NEW patients who are Anthem members effective February 2, 2016. This includes members in the state COVA Care and COVA HDHP plans. Existing Patient First patients would not be affected by the change.

Anthem and Patient First continue negotiations. We will let you know when we receive any updated information.
