UMW procurement services office monitors more than 300 contracts through our campus contract management system, Cobblestone.  University contracts promote increased efficiency of operations and serve to streamline processes, reduce costs, and add value to the campus community. Featured today: The exclusive beverage contract with PEPSICO provides products for all dining locations, UMW Bookstore, and 57 campus vending machines, funding for various campus initiatives (including departmental scholarships for on time course material adoption), and participation in various campus events. The contract is administered by Business Services. March is Procurement Month!

Governor McAuliffe recently announced that Virginia ranks second in the US for procurement practices according to a national survey, stating, "This recognition shows that Virginia is one of the best in the nation when it comes to providing fiscally responsible purchases of the goods and services needed to keep government running." During FY15, UMW's Procurement Services contributed to the ranking by conducting over 70 solicitations and influencing savings to the University in excess of $290,000. … [Read more...]

UMW Supplier Expo

On February 26th Procurement Services successfully hosted the first UMW Supplier Expo. With dozens of vendors in attendance, the event radiated a lively and progressive atmosphere. Faculty, staff, and associates of the university had the chance to chat one-on-one with some of our most essential contacts while also receiving some promotional products to take home. This opportunity to connect with our dynamic networks both strengthened and broadened the bond within our supplier community. The department has been receiving many positive responses, and it has been voiced that another Expo in the future would be highly anticipated. Buyer Beware

Two UMW department buyers recently reported receiving calls from someone who wanted the number printed on the front of the nearby copier, the savvy Buyers directed the caller to the UMW Copy Center and in both cases the caller hung up the phone.  Beware of similar scams to sell toner or replenish supplies. … [Read more...]
