{"id":122656,"date":"2016-04-29T13:50:16","date_gmt":"2016-04-29T17:50:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/adminfinance.umw.edu\/hr\/?page_id=122656"},"modified":"2020-01-17T14:09:12","modified_gmt":"2020-01-17T19:09:12","slug":"adjunct-background-checks","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/adminfinance.umw.edu\/hr\/employment-opportunities\/background-checks\/adjunct-background-checks\/","title":{"rendered":"Special Instructions for Adjuncts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Employment offers to final candidates in adjunct searches are contingent upon the successful completion of the University\u2019s national and state background check. \u00a0Since the adjunct hiring process is handled differently than a full, competitive search, the process to meet this requirement is handled in a manner tailored for this group of employees.<\/p>\n<p>When a Department Chair or other hiring official initiates the Truescreen background check, additional information will be sent to the adjunct candidate providing directions on how to complete the state police check.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Dear Candidate \u2013<\/p>\n<p>All employment offers to final candidates in faculty, administrative faculty, classified, wage, and adjunct searches are contingent upon the successful completion of the University\u2019s national and state background check.\u00a0 As an Adjunct instructor at the University of Mary Washington, your offer of employment is conditional upon the completion of a background check.\u00a0 Failure to initiate your background check in a timely manner may result in the withdrawal of the conditional offer of employment.<\/p>\n<p>Please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/go.boarddocs.com\/va\/umw\/Board.nsf\/files\/BGDM6H552814\/$file\/E.3.5.%20Background%20Check%2007012019.pdf\">University of Mary Washington\u2019s Background Check Policy and Procedures<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<p>You are required to submit a notarized Background Check Authorization. \u00a0To do so:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/documents.umw.edu\/document\/background-check-authorization-sp-24\/\">Background Check Authorization<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Complete <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>only<\/strong> <\/span>the fields in the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Name<\/strong><\/span> section.<\/li>\n<li>Print \u2013 <strong>but do not sign<\/strong> &#8211; the completed form.\u00a0 The form must be signed in the presence of a notary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 50%; vertical-align: top;\">If you are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">able<\/span> to visit the UMW Office of Human Resources:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring the unsigned form to UMW\u2019s Recruitment Office.<\/li>\n<li>A notary will be available.<\/li>\n<li>We are located in Fairfax House on the UMW campus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 50%; vertical-align: top;\">If you are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unable<\/span> to visit the UMW Office of Human Resources:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Take the unsigned form to a notary.
