Meet<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 365px;\">The evaluation process begins when the supervisor and employee meet to discuss the Performance Review process, review the Position Description (PD) together, discuss the professional development that took place during the review period, and go over progress toward meeting the goals during the review period<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 97.2px; vertical-align: top;\" width=\"204\"><strong>Supervisor Completes the Plan<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 365px;\" width=\"404\">\n<p>The Supervisor owns the first step in the Performance Management process \u2013 the process begins when the Supervisor completes the Performance Plan.<\/p>\n<p>The Evaluation process begins with a review of the employee\u2019s <strong>Position Description<\/strong>.\u00a0 This document includes the Job Duties of the position, as well as elements that define how each Duty will be measured.\u00a0 Changes to the PD cannot be made at this point of the performance review cycle, but the Supervisor should review the Job Duties and\u00a0 Performance Competencies<span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The plan also includes a list of the <strong>Competencies<\/strong> that all employees are evaluated on.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Goals<\/strong> that were established at the beginning of the cycle are also part of the Plan.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 97.2px; vertical-align: top;\" width=\"204\"><strong>Employee Completes Self-Assessment<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 365px;\" width=\"404\">Once the Supervisor completes the Plan, the employee will have an opportunity to complete a Self-Assessment.\u00a0 This is encouraged, but is not required.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 97.2px; vertical-align: top;\" width=\"204\"><strong>Supervisor Creates Evaluation<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 365px;\" width=\"404\">After completion of the Self-Assessment, the evaluation is passed back to the Supervisor for creation of the Evaluation.\u00a0 The Supervisor will take the Position Description, Self-Evaluation, feedback from others, and other documentation into consideration as the evaluation is completed.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 97.2px; vertical-align: top;\" width=\"204\"><strong>Reviewer Gives Approval \/ Makes Comments<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 365px;\" width=\"404\">Once the Evaluation has been completed by the Supervisor, the Reviewer will review the evaluation.\u00a0 The Reviewer may Approve the Evaluation, or send it back to the Supervisor for additional work.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 97.2px; vertical-align: top;\" width=\"204\"><strong>Supervisor \/ Employee Meet<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 365px;\" width=\"404\">The employee and Supervisor will meet to review the evaluation.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 97.2px; vertical-align: top;\" width=\"204\"><strong>Employee Acknowledges Evaluation<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 365px;\" width=\"404\">Once all reviews have been done, the Employee indicates that they have reviewed the evaluation.\u00a0 This indicates that the employee has reviewed the evaluation \u2013 but does not convey agreement.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\"><strong>The Employee Self-Assessment Process<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Employees may complete a self-assessment; the Self-Assessment is part of the performance evaluation process.\u00a0 If an employee completes a self-assessment, you must consider this information as you complete your assessment of the employee&#8217;s performance.\u00a0 Notify your staff of your deadline to complete their online self-assessment.\u00a0 Allow at least two weeks for staff to prepare self-assessments so that you can consider this information as you complete their evaluations to meet your deadline.<\/p>\n<p>As an employee, factors to consider for the self-assessment include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>General accomplishments and obstacles during the performance cycle<\/li>\n<li>Achievement of the job duties\/measures of their position<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of the new competencies (results orientation and job knowledge, problem solving, judgement, planning and organization citizen and customer interaction, teamwork and building relationships, coaching and communication and\u00a0 leadership \/ influence).<\/li>\n<li>Learning points from this cycle.<\/li>\n<li>Desired goals and training for the new cycle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additional\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/adminfinance.umw.edu\/hr\/files\/2013\/08\/Self-Assessment-Process.docx\">information and tips on completing the Self Assessment<\/a>\u00a0are available for your review.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Preparing\/Completing the Evaluation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Use the current position description to rate each job duty, special assignments, and applicable competencies, taking into consideration any submitted employee self-assessment.\u00a0 Assess the employee\u2019s progress toward meeting their learning goals.\u00a0 Determine the overall performance level.\u00a0 This action requires your judgment and objective assessment of the employee\u2019s total job performance throughout the review cycle.\u00a0 Please consult with HR in cases where an employee has been on periods of extended leave.<\/p>\n<p>If you find yourself needing some words, you may want to take a look at\u00a0<a \/>\n<\/div>\n<h2><strong>Conducting the Performance Evaluation Meeting with Your Employee<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Start by reviewing the expectations (goals) that were established at the beginning of the cycle.<\/li>\n<li>Review the evaluation with the employee.<\/li>\n<li>Involve the employee in the discussion by asking him\/her for problem-solving ideas and input on evaluation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>A\/P Faculty<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A\/P faculty hired on or before February 25, 2025, and remaining employed as of May 25, 2025, and are actively employed on June 16, 2025, will receive a 1.5% bonus effective May 25, 2025, provided they received a rating of \u201cContributor\u201d or satisfactory on their last performance evaluation or more and remaining employed as of May 25, 2025, and are actively employed on June 16, 2025, will receive a 1.5% bonus effective May 25, 2025. (Full-time faculty are considered actively employed through August 15.) Bonuses for teaching faculty will appear in paychecks beginning <strong>June 16, 2025.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Wage Staff<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All wage staff hired on or before February 25, 2025, and remaining employed as of May 25, 2025, and are actively employed on June 16, 2025, will receive a 1.5% bonus effective June 2, 2025.\u00a0 Bonuses for wage staff will appear in paychecks beginning <strong>June 27, 2025, <\/strong>and will be based on the average hours worked per pay period for the year prior to February 25, 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Deferred Compensation<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Part or all of the bonus may be deferred, subject to relevant plan guidelines and limitations. 2025.\u00a0 All UMW Classified, A\/P faculty, full-time teaching faculty, adjunct faculty and wage employees are eligible to receive this pay increase as described below:<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Classified Staff <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Classified staff hired on or before March 10, 2025, and remaining employed as of June 10, 2025, will receive a 3% base pay increase effective June 10, 2025, provided they received a rating of \u201cContributor\u201d or satisfactory on their last performance evaluation or more recent interim evaluation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>A\/P Faculty<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A\/P faculty hired on or before March 10, 2025, and remaining employed as of June 10, 2025, will receive a 3% base pay increase effective June 10, 2025, provided they received a rating of \u201cContributor\u201d or satisfactory on their last performance evaluation or more recent interim evaluation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pay increases for both classified staff and A\/P faculty will appear in paychecks beginning <strong>July 1, 2025<\/strong>.\u00a0 Please refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/adminfinance.umw.edu\/hr\/files\/2025\/05\/2025-UMW-Salary-Increase-FAQs-06.10.25-Final-1.pdf\">June 2025 UMW Salary Increase FAQs<\/a> for information about employees working fewer than 12 months annually and are not actively working on June 10.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Full-Time and Adjunct Teaching Faculty<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-time and adjunct teaching faculty will receive their increase information in their appointment or reappointment letter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Wage Staff<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All wage staff hired on or before March 10, 2025, and remaining employed as of June 10, 2025, will receive a 3% hourly rate increase effective June 16, 2025.\u00a0 Pay rate increases for wage staff will appear in paychecks beginning <strong>July 11, 2025<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Deferred Compensation<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Part or all of the salary increase may be deferred, subject to relevant plan guidelines and limitations. 2024.\u00a0 All UMW Classified, A\/P faculty, full-time teaching faculty, adjunct faculty and wage employees are eligible to receive this pay increase as described below:<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Classified Staff <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Classified staff hired on or before March 10, 2024 and remaining employed as of June 10, 2024 will receive a 3% base pay increase effective June 10, 2024, provided they received a rating of \u201cContributor\u201d or satisfactory on their last performance evaluation or more recent interim evaluation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>A\/P Faculty<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A\/P faculty hired on or before March 10, 2024 and remaining employed as of June 10, 2024 will receive a 3% base pay increase effective June 10, 2024, provided they received a rating of \u201cContributor\u201d or satisfactory on their last performance evaluation or more recent interim evaluation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pay increases for both classified staff and A\/P faculty will appear in paychecks beginning <strong>July 1, 2024<\/strong>.\u00a0 Please refer to <a annually and are not actively working on June 10.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Full-Time and Adjunct Teaching Faculty<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-time and adjunct teaching faculty will receive their increase information in their appointment or reappointment letter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Wage Staff<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All wage staff hired on or before March 10, 2024 and remaining employed as of June 10, 2024 will receive a 3% hourly rate increase effective June 17, 2024.\u00a0 Pay rate increases for wage staff will appear in paychecks beginning <strong>July 12, 2024<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Deferred Compensation<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Part or all of the salary increase may be deferred, subject to relevant plan guidelines and limitations.
