Welcome!
Facilities Operations provides a broad range of support functions for the daily operations and maintenance of the University of Mary Washington. The various trades and staff of Maintenance Operations and Landscape and Grounds support you and our university daily by keeping your dorm room comfortable, your classrooms clean, your lights bright and our campus landscape lush, safe and tidy.
Maintenance Operations
Walking about the UMW campus, you’re likely not aware of the presence of the Maintenance Operations Department and the many services it provides to the University. Maintenance Operations is responsible for all operations and maintenance of the University, maintaining the physical structure of the campus, providing utilities and providing the support services that surround these functions. Our team of more than 59 dedicated employees tailors its services to meet the changing needs of our customers who occupy a wide variety of facility types, ranging from laboratory and teaching environments to dining, athletic facilities and residence halls.
Landscape and Grounds
We offer more than a great first impression! Landscape and Grounds is responsible for the stewardship of the outdoor physical assets of the UMW main campus. Our dedicated team works throughout the year in all weather conditions, while caring for the campus trees, sidewalks, meadows, patios, gardens and lawns. The goal is to promote a safe, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing outdoor environment for students, staff, faculty and visitors. Focusing on efficiency and stewardship, we partner with the Office of Sustainability to improve landscape resilience for the campus greenspaces and often provide educational opportunities and events for the entire UMW community.
