UMW No Mow Zone signs across campus state:

  • Restricted mowing lets native plants grow, creating food, cover, and breeding areas for native species.
  • Restricted mowing reduces labor and fuel needed to maintain an area.
  • Plant growth absorbs stormwater, secures banks, and decreases erosion and the chance of flooding.
