(Status: Opened in Spring 2022)
For more than 80 years, Seacobeck Hall served as the main dining facility on campus. On January 10, 2022, Seacobeck reopened to become the new home to the College of Education and the Office of Disability Resources. The newly transformed Seacobeck features a large two-story atrium with forum seating, an active learning classroom, model classroom, a flexible event space with seating for 150 people, multiple team rooms and many spaces for collaboration and gathering, as well as faculty and staff offices.
The makerspace on the first floor has been equipped with tools, toys and technology to advance STEM education and embrace the arts and full-range of curriculum throughout the K-12 years. It serves as a hands-on space for UMW students and future educators as well as current educators. Local schools attend workshops and bring their classes for field trips.
