Commuters

The cost of parking in the commuter parking lots (red decal) is $225.00 and entitles the user to park in any red color coded lot or all UMW decal lot, including the Alvey Parking Deck levels 1-3 and adjacent Sunken Road parking lots.

Incoming Students

Freshman Commuters, with the exception of long distance and other preapproved students, are the only members of the freshman class to have a car on campus. As with the other Commuters, Freshman Commuters can register more than one vehicle.

Multiple Vehicles

Commuting students are eligible to register one additional vehicle at no extra cost. The primary vehicle must be registered first using the online Parking Management System.  Once the primary vehicle is registered, the secondary vehicle must be registered in person at the Office of Parking Management, located in Lee Hall Room 110 (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM).  To complete the registration process, students must present a hard copy of the current valid registration for both vehicles in person. For questions or clarification, please contact the Office of Parking Management.

Restrictions:

  • Vehicles associated by name or address with any student account in the Parking Management System will not be registered under a different student.
  • Only one registered vehicle is permitted on campus at a time. If both vehicles or permits are found on campus simultaneously, the secondary vehicle will be cited and may be removed from campus property.
  • Any attempts at unauthorized use, duplication, or distribution of a UMW parking decal will result in citations and disciplinary action.

Summer Session

The cost of a summer decal is $36 per session. If a student purchased a decal during the academic year, the decal remains valid till August 1 of each year. Students must furnish the vehicle license plate number or may present a valid state registration (though registration is not required). Email Parking Management or call (540) 654-1129.

Parking in residential student lots is prohibited during Fall & Spring Semesters; during both summer sessions parking is liberal and use of residential lots is permissible.

A SPECIAL NOTE TO COMMUTING STUDENTS

  1. Those students who reside in the City of Fredericksburg’s Restricted Zones and have Fredericksburg City permits are considered commuting students and must also obtain a UMW permit to park in any UMW campus facility.
  2. UMW student permits do NOT authorize parking in the City of Fredericksburg’s permit areas. Permanent residents living in the City of Fredericksburg must also procure a valid parking permit from the City of Fredericksburg Police Department.
