Hiring officials and Search committees will be able to access applications in Careers to review for the screening process. It is up to the Search Committee Chair to determine if the screening will be done together or if the group will work off the results of one person’s review of the applications.
HR will forward a screening sheet template, within three business days for classified positions that have been posted (or before the position close date). This is to be used by the hiring official or search committee chair to determine which candidates will be considered for interview. These screenings should be based on the minimum requirements and preferred criteria as advertised for the position. Scoring of the candidates’ application materials should be done consistently, using a standard defensible ranking system. For example:
– Does not meet criteria
+ Meets criteria
++ Exceeds criteria
The screening sheet is part of the search file and should clearly show why an applicant was or was not considered further. HR reviews these sheets and may request more information based on the interpretation of application information by the hiring official.
