Administrative/Professional Faculty are employees holding academic rank who are appointed by the President to perform the administrative and support functions of the university.
Administrative Faculty
Administrative faculty requires the performance of work directly related to the management of the educational and general activities of the institution, department, or sub-division. Incumbents in these positions have a reporting relationship normally no lower than three levels below the president.
Professional Faculty
Professional faculty require advanced learning and experience acquired by prolonged formal instruction and/or specialized work experience. This category is normally limited to librarians, counselors, coaches, lawyers, and other professional positions serving education, athletics, student affairs and development functions.
The University of Mary Washington’s compensation philosophy is to pay Administrative and Professional faculty in a manner sufficient to support and develop a high quality workforce that provides quality service in a fiscally responsible manner to the citizens of Virginia.
